Cybersecurity Expert, Ray Rothrock, Joins Shield Capital as Venture Partner

Experienced venture capitalist and cybersecurity expert with an investment track record that includes nine IPOs, joins SHIELD.

December 7, 2022 (San Francisco, CA) – Shield Capital announced that Ray Rothrock has joined the firm as a Venture Partner.  Ray is an internationally-recognized venture capitalist, cybersecurity expert, author, and industry leader. His investment track record includes nine IPOs resulting in multiple listings on the Forbes Midas List.

For 25 years, Ray served as General Partner at Venrock, the early stage venture capital firm founded by the Rockefeller family. Ray led over 50 early-stage technology and cybersecurity companies including CloudFlare (NYSE: Net) , Check Point Software (NASDAQ: CHKP), Vontu, PGP, Imperva, and Shape Security. Ray has extensive corporate governance experience serving on the board of several private and public companies. He presently serves as Executive Chairman of RedSeal, Inc. and on the boards of Check Point Software (NASDAQ: CHKP), Roku (NASDAQ: ROKU), Team8, Titaniam.io, and AeroSpace Corporation (FFRDC). He also is the author of “Digital Resilience: Is Your Company Ready for the Next Cyber Threat?” (HarperCollins, 2018), a management book for executives to deal with their cyber positions, threats, and actions.
