Snorkel AI is an automated data labeling tool to reduce laborious hand labeling in training data to expedite AI development. Snorkel Flow, the company’s programmatic labeling platform, can speed up development timelines by a factor of 100 without sacrificing accuracy, privacy, or the ability to audit the data. Users can avoid hand-labeling millions of data points by creating programmatic functions based on labeling rules and heuristics in a no-code environment and Snorkel Flow will automatically check the labeling functions’ accuracy. Once a user’s labeling functions are ready, they can be used to train state-of-the-art machine learning models with the push of a button. Snorkel Flow can compare the accuracy of multiple models over different data splits to enable iterative improvements that don’t require relabeling the data from scratch.

The platform has been deployed for everything from contract intelligence to medical imaging analysis and social media monitoring, saving thousands of hours of tedious human labor in the process.

Progress

Building on research from Stanfords AI lab, Snorkel has rolled out its algorithmic labeling platform and consistently achieves 94-99% labeling accuracy compared to humans. Through a partnership with Google, Snorkel’s platform managed to relabel more than 6 million data points in just 30 minutes, a process that would have taken human labelers nearly 6 months. Snorkel has partnered with major tech companies such as Google and Intel, as well as leading financial firms.
